Landlord Licensing
The Department for Communities and Local Government gave formal approval to Salford City Council to make the Seedley and Langworthy regeneration area a selective licensing designated area. Salford City Council are the first local authority in the UK to be given approval. Selective licensing came into force on 25 May 2007 and will last for five years.
In May 2007 the Landlord Licensing team wrote to all known landlords in the Seedley and Langworthy regeneration area, enclosing an application pack along with supporting information to make an application for a selective licence. Please contact the Landlord Licensing team on 0161- 793 3344 or e-mail landlord.licensing@salford.gov.uk if you are not sure if you will require a licence or simply to find out more about the scheme.
One of the main requirements of a licence is for the landlord to have procedures in place in order to deal with Anti Social Behaviour caused by their tenants. This might mean that the landlord will work with other agencies in resolving the problem such as the council, the police or local residents groups etc.
The Landlord Licensing team provide help and support to landlords and local people, through a surgery based at the Seedley and Langworthy Trust every Wednesday afternoon. The surgery is run by Shimran Butt (pictured on the left) and his colleage Gemma Lawrence. The team work on an appointment basis, so please ring the Trust on 0161-737-9918 or alternatively e-mail admin@seedleytrust.co.uk if you would like to make an appointment with the team.
If you would like to find out more about Landlord Licensing, please visit the council’s website. You can also write to the team at Housing Market Support, 4th Floor, Salford City Council, Civic Centre, Chorley Road, Swinton, M27 5BY.
